WASH YOUR FACE
Wash your face with a moisturizing face wash and a gentle exfoliant. While we are partial to our OneBlade® Cleanse, it's best to choose a facewash that is as gentle as possible to still get the job done. There are many different types of and formulations for face washes so finding your best fit may take some trial and error.
Our gentle foaming cleanser is a great place to start if you're not sure what works best for you. With its botanical formula, we've removed the ingredients typically associated with negative skin reactions but utilized the all-natural ingredients that are best suited for most skin types.
SOAK YOUR WHISKERS
While you may have already accomplished this by washing your face, it's worth repeating. Be sure to take a hot shower, wash your face with warm water or give your whiskers the classic hot towel soak.
Soaking and warming your whiskers accomplishes a few things. First, the warm water softens your whiskers, making them easier to cut. Secondly, the moisture is soaked up by your hair follicles causing them to swell. This helps lift your hair away from your skin and brings the base of the hair closer to the surface, for a closer shave.
MAP YOUR GRAIN
The direction in which your whiskers grow plays a big role in the comfort of your shave. While male facial hair growth tends to follow similar patterns no two faces are alike so it's important to familiarize yourself with the direction your hair grows in each area of your face.
Generally speaking, facial hair on your cheeks, chin, and upper lip grow straight down, facial hair along your jawline may grow downwards or back towards your ears, and the hair on your neck may be a combination of hair that grows upwards and sideways.
