My name is Dominic, and I’m the Customer Experience Manager at OneBlade (and former Gillette Mach 3 user). What exactly do I do? Well, if you have a question, concern, or problem I’m the one trying to find a solution. I love helping our customers, but I’ll admit, sometimes it can be difficult. After all, how do you tell someone that’s been shaving most of their life that there is a better way?

Change is hard, so I really do commend anyone who tries something new—and shaving with OneBlade truly is something new, in the sense that it’s different, and may be something you have to get used to. We get return requests that come in, and someone has used just one or two of their blades. If you’ll bear with me for a moment, I’d like to propose something: the OneBlade 10-Blade Challenge.

We will certainly take back any product you’re not totally happy with, that stands. But we’re so confident that just giving it a real college try will get you hooked on OneBlade, so we are challenging you to try using all 10 blades in that first pack before making your final decision. Like I said, the new (and improved) technique does take some acclimating.

Note: Even with proper technique, your skin may take a week or two to fully adjust to shaving with OneBlade, especially if you are brand new to single blade shaving. After all, you are getting a much closer shave than you may be accustomed. Rest assured, after several shaves, your skin will actually begin to strengthen and toughen. Always make sure that you are ending your shave routine with a nourishing, alcohol-free aftershave will expedite the skin recovery process.

When I first made the switch from Mach3 to OneBlade, I’ll admit, I was frustrated. I nicked myself the first few times on my lower neck and I didn’t know why. Turns out, that after 15 years of shaving I was so accustomed to ingrown hairs and bumps, especially in this one area. I kept going with it and noticed that after my first four shaves with OneBlade, those red spots, bumps, and ingrown hairs went away. I’m not kidding. By the time I used it for the fifth or sixth time, and got more of a feel for it, I adjusted my technique slightly to what felt good for me. All that stuff we tell you about mapping out facial hair grain really did help, and I’m telling you, I got the smoothest, most comfortable and enjoyable shaves with that extra bit of persistence. By my 10th shave, my Mach3 was gone.

Dominic's Checklist for Shave Success

✓  Thorough face wash
✓  Thick lather
✓  Multiple passes
✓  Minimal pressure
✓  Short 1-inch strokes
✓  No overlap
✓  No repeating strokes over same spot
✓  Alcohol-free aftershave

As for you intrepid safety razor users, you’ll adjust more quickly to a OneBlade shave, but it’s still a little different. You might be tempted to use the razor exactly as you would your safety razor, but you don’t have to—you can use the OneBlade pivot, and if you make sure the razor's registration surfaces are flat against your skin, you’ll find it’s an easier way to get that impeccably close shave.

I want you all to have the same great experience I did, and really hope you do. Thanks for trusting our innovation and being open to something different—let us know how it goes!
