Let's Talk Summer Skin Health

Ahhh, summer. This change in the season may mean it’s time to change your facial care routine. We’re serving up three simple recommendations that will help your face be summer ready:

1. WASH.

Increasing outdoor temperatures means more sweat. As sweat rolls down your face, it gathers oils and bacteria that ultimately settle into your pores. Washing your face using warm water and a facial cleanser, twice a day (morning and evening) will help keep your pores clear of these impurities.

2. MOISTURIZE.

After washing your face, apply a facial moisturizer. Moisturizing helps keep your skin cells full of water, preventing oil and other impurities from entering your pores. In the morning, if you shave directly after washing your face, an aftershave balm can be used as a substitute for moisturizer. And, good news if you wet-shave: shave brushes naturally exfoliate your face. Exfoliated skin absorbs the products you apply better.

3. PROTECT.

The ultimate protection for your skin, during any season, is sunscreen. Melanoma is the 19th most common cancer in both men and women around the world, according to the World Cancer Research Fund . If that’s not a reason to lather up daily, we don’t know what is. We recommend you use sunscreens that do not contain oxybenzone . Instead, use natural sunscreens with titanium dioxide and zinc oxide , like Blue Lizard Australian Sunscreen.

Your skin can be happy and healthy during any season—especially summer!
